On Tuesday, January 18, 2005, Lamont Bentley died in a tragic car crash on the San Diego freeway. Known as "Hakeem" from the hit T.V. show Moesha, Bentley will be forever missed by fans everywhere.
Born on October 25, 1973 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bentley was destined to be an actor. He entertained everyone at his mother's singing auditions and landed a few commercials including a starburst commercial which founded his career as a young actor.
Bentley appeared on numerous television shows including the Parenthood, The Proud Family, Family Matters, Soul Food, Clueless, NYPD Blue, South Central and The Parkers. On the big screen, Bentley played roles in the movies Tales From The Hood, The Wash, Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story, Buffalo Soldiers, The Breaks, Shards and Gabriela. Bentley was a recording artist under rapper Coolio and was in the process of releasing an album.
While driving, Bentley's car was said to have ran thru a stop sign and tore thru a chain link fence. His car rolled down an embankment where he was ejected onto the pavement and hit by oncoming traffic. The autopsy revealed that Benley had no alcohol or drugs in his system at the time of his death and died from multiple blunt force objects.
Fans mourn the loss of a creative and promising male star. Such a tragic accident claimed the life of a bright young man and closed the curtain on a talented actor. "Hakeem" will forever be remembered and missed by fans all over the world.
